Separated from the wildness of the mountain forests by the wild waters of Pune's rivers, Lake Pune is a natural body of water formed across thousands of years from the gradual accumulation of eroded rocks from several mountain streams. The lake covers an area of thirty-six square miles. Its perimeter is formed by a ring of hills on all sides.
